Design Progress | Week 15
Dates: 11/25/25 - 12/02/25 This week’s efforts were focused on finalizing documentation, improving mechanical components of the NAVI system, and preparing the necessary materials for final testing and project presentation. I continued developing and refining the written report, completing the remaining sections and ensuring all content was aligned with project requirements. On the mechanical side, I reprinted the face support using FlexiTough material to increase durability a

Design Progress | Week 14
Dates: 11/19/25 - 11/25/25 This week, I completed the final prints of both the faceplate and front plate and thoroughly cleaned all remaining support material, sanding the edges to prepare for the installation of the internal neoprene comfort layer. After etching the surface, I adhered the neoprene lining inside the faceplate and verified a smooth, secure fit. Modified and newly printed fittings, inserts, and TPU wire plugs were finalized to ensure proper installation of the

Design Progress | Week 13
Dates: 11/12/25 - 11/18/25 This week, progress was made on both the NAVI device hardware and the accompanying design report. Using the feedback from Dr. Ejaz and the report rubric, I expanded the document’s structure—including updated chapters 1, 2, and 4—while refining the table of contents, list of figures, and list of tables. Custom headers and footers were also added for consistency and professionalism. On the hardware side, I completed the design of Front-Plate V6 and Fa

Design Progress | Week 12
Dates: 11/05/25 - 11/11/25 This week’s progress involved extensive refinement and troubleshooting of the NAVI headset’s front assembly. During inspection of the latest print, an error was discovered on the front plate—a small gap in the left-center IR sensor mount caused the support material to strip when removed. After reviewing the CAD model, several loft and extrude modifications were made to strengthen the internal supports for the IR sensors and reduce excessive support

Design Progress | Week 11
Dates: 10/29/25 - 11/04/25 This weeks progress centered on finalizing the front plate design and developing a reliable method to connect it to the face plate. After numerous trials attempting to directly join the two geometries, it became clear that creating large shims would be the most effective solution. These shims will act as adapter components that bridge the gap between the front and face plates, compensating for their complex curvature and ensuring a secure fit. Work

Design Progress | Week 10
Dates: 10/22/25 - 10/28/25 During this weeks progress, the primary focus was on refining the headset’s front plate design and addressing complex alignment issues with the face plate. Over twenty hours were dedicated to iterating through multiple design versions in Fusion 360, concentrating on finalizing the curvature, internal supports, and mounting geometry to ensure accurate alignment and strength. Despite significant effort, directly modifying the face plate geometry prove

Design Progress | Week 9
Dates: 10/15/25 - 10/21/25 This week, I focused on refining several design and structural aspects of the NAVI headset. I began by redesigning the front plate to address the alignment and connection issues encountered during last week’s attempts to finalize the faceplate assembly. In addition, I designed new side and rear infrared (IR) sensor mounts using Fusion 360 and initiated the 3D printing process with FlexiTough (flexible PLA) material to improve user comfort when wear

Design Progress | Week 8
Dates: 10/08/25 - 10/14/25 This weeks progress was made on both the NAVI website and hardware development. The “Weekly Meetings” pages for both the Senior Proposal and Senior Design sections were corrected after reverting to a default layout, restoring the intended design and formatting. Updates were also made to the monetary expenses section based on Dr. Ejaz’s feedback to ensure grammatical accuracy and clarity. On the hardware side, the CAD model of the front plate was rev
